The Anaheim Ducks celebrated their 20th year in the NHL with throwback night on Sunday. They played the Ottawa Senators and pulled off a 4-1 win while setting a team record for shots in a game with 56 shots on net. Corey Perry led the charge with a two goal game. The night featured the eggplant uniforms they wore when they were the Mighty Ducks they came into the league wearing and made famous in the Mighty Ducks movies (though not as much as the white uniforms).
The night also featured a heavy dose of 90’s rock music and a ceremony before the game with some of the former players notably was Stu Grimson and Guy Hebert. Noticeably missing was Paul Kariya, not sure if it is a spat with Ducks ownership or another prior commitment, but him not being there was noticeable since he and Teemu Selanne are players who lifted the name of the Ducks to what it became.
Robin Lehner came in just 4 minutes into the game and made 45 saves on 47 shots against after he took over for Craig Anderson.
The Mighty Ducks won 4-1 to improve to 4-1-0 on the young season.
